This pair of CCM Jetspeed skates was worn in practice by Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers during the 2016-17 NHL regular season.
These skates were customized for McDavid's use with additional padding. After trying them in practice, McDavid did not wear these customized skates in an NHL game.
This pair of skates has been exclusively authorized for authentication and distribution by the Connor McDavid-Edmonton Oilers-MeiGray Group Game-Used Equipment Program, designed to protect the integrity of the budding NHL superstar's game-used items.
This pair of skates has been registered with hologram number MGA004198. The hologram has been affixed to one skate.
McDavid, who leads the NHL in scoring and is a leading candidate for the Art Ross Trophy, became the youngest captain in National Hockey League history on October 5, 2016. At 19 years and 266 days old, the Oilers entrusted their leadership to the Richmond Hill, Ontario, native whom they selected first overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Despite missing 37 games with a broken collarbone during his 2015-16 rookie season, McDavid scored 16 goals and 32 assists in 45 games.
McDavid burst onto the international hockey scene in 2013, when he played for the Canadian U18s at the IIHF World Championships. He scored a goal and added two assists in his debut against Slovakia and had a hat trick against Sweden, leading a plethora of hockey scouts to dub him "The Next One."
McDavid spent three fabulous junior seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters, where he tallied 97 goals and 188 assists in 167 games.
