Connor McDavid wore these blue adidas socks throughout the Edmonton Oilers' 4-3 home opening loss to the Vancouver Canucks on October 14, 2023 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB. McDavid scored his first goal of the season and added an assist, reaching a number of milestones noted below. The socks are photo-matched.
On October 14, 2023, McDavid extended his personal scoring streak against the Canucks to 17 games. At the time, it was the third-longest such streak in the NHL, with only Leon Draisaitl's streak against the Canucks (19 games) and McDavid's own streak against the San Jose Sharks (18 games) surpassing it. McDavid also extended his own franchise record for goals in home openers to 10 in nine games; his 17 points in nine home openers was second only to Wayne Gretzky. McDavid is one of only four active players to have recorded 10 goals in home openers; the other three are Alex Ovechkin, Steven Stamkos, and Sidney Crosby.

McDavid surpassed his previous career high in assists just 67 games into the 2023-24 National Hockey League season, surpassing 90 helpers for the first time. He also cleared 100 points for the fourth season in a row and for the seventh time in eight years. He currently ranks third all-time in career points per game with over 1.5, behind only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.
