This auction celebrates the Capitals' place at home and their 2018 Stanley Cup Championship with a selection of game-used items from the team's most successful era and its biggest heroes.
Brooks Orpik wore these Reebok Winter Classic style socks during the Capitals' 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers on April 11, 2015 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The socks are photo-matched. Orpik recorded one assist during the game.
The Capitals' 2015 Winter Classic uniform incorporated a Capitals wordmark in an alternate font along with a navy blue "W" backdrop with three stars that served as the inspiration for the alternate jersey they introduced in 2020-21. The deep red shade of the kit was departure from the Capitals' typical shade of bright red, and was intended "to symbolize hockey's deep roots in Washington," per their NHL.com jersey timeline. Like the Capitals' current logo, this jersey featured a silhouette of a historic building in D.C., this time the Washington Monument instead of the Capitol Building.
