Welcome to the National Women's Hockey League-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program's Inaugural Game-Worn Jersey Auction.
The NWHL, now in its second season, is the first professional women's hockey league in North America to pay its players. The Inaugural season began on October 11, 2015 and ended with the Boston Pride raising the first Isobel Cup on March 12, 2016.
MeiGray, named the Official Game-Worn Jersey Source for the National Women's Hockey League, will throughout the 2016-17 season will be offering game-worn jerseys from all four NWHL clubs: Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters.
The NWHL-MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program is proud to offer fans and collectors across the globe the opportunity to own a piece of history ... an actual jersey worn by #16 Amanda Pelkey of the Boston Pride during the 2016-2017 National Women's Hockey League preseason.
Pelkey finished her University of Vermont career as the program's leader in goals (49), assists (56), and points (105).
This jersey, a Size 48, is registered into the MeiGray Group Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program as number MGG010291. Each jersey has the player's native country flag on the left sleeve.
The NWHL-MGG Auction season is kicking off with one complete set of game-worn jerseys from each of the four clubs, worn exclusively during the 2016-17 NWHL preseason.
Auction No. 1: Jerseys worn by the Isobel Cup-champion Boston Pride and Connecticut Whale.
The 2015-16 Isobel Cup winners went 14-3-1 in the NWHL's inaugural regular season, earning the top seed in the playoffs and dominating the league with a +36 goal differential. The Pride boasted the league's top two scorers in Hilary Knight (33 points) and Brianna Decker (29 points). The Pride eliminated the New York Riveters and the Buffalo Beauts in two-game sweeps to capture the Inaugural Isobel Cup. The team also swept the league's inaugural season individual awards and honors: MVP Brianna Decker, scoring champion Hilary Knight, NWHL Perseverance Award and the NWHL Foundation Award winner, Denna Laing, the Defensive Player of the Year Award, Gigi Marvin, and the Goaltender of the Year, Brittany Ott.
The Connecticut Whale, named in honor of the Hartford Whalers, finished second in the league's inaugural regular season with a 13-5-0 record and +10 goal differential. Kelli Stack (eight goals, 14 assists) and Kelly Babstock (9 goals, 13 assists) finished third and fourth in the league in scoring. The Whale's first three wins last season came with three different goalies: Jaimie Leonoff, Chelsea Laden and Nicole Stock, highlighting the solid defense that yielded 51 goals, second-best in the league.
