From the MeiGray Archives comes a new series of auctions, this one featuring practice jerseys acquired directly from the Toronto Maple Leafs when they were a MeiGray partner in the 2000s in the NHL Game-Worn Jersey Program.
Alexander Mogilny wore this blue jersey during practices for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Mogilny had already won Olympic Gold with the Soviet Union at the 1988 Games in Calgary as well as a gold medal at the 1989 IIHF World Championships when he became the first Soviet player to defect to the NHL in 1990. He would play 990 games with four NHL franchises across his 16 years in the league, scoring 473 goals and making 559 assists. Mogilny led the NHL with 76 goals in 1993 and was awarded the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for sportmanship and gentlemanly conduct in 2003. He secured his Triple Gold Club status in 2000 when he won the Stanley Cup with the New Jersey Devils. Mogilny's 1,032 career points remain fourth all-time by a Russian player in the NHL.
MeiGray received these jerseys directly from the Toronto Maple Leafs after the 2007-08 season.
