On April 1, 2018, Alex Ovechkin became the first Washington Capital in the franchise’s 44-year history to play in 1,000 NHL games as a Cap. He became only the 54th player in NHL history to play 1,000 games with a single franchise. And he became one of only four NHL players to score 600 or more goals prior to playing 1,000 NHL games.
Ovechkin wore these photo-matched gloves when the Caps defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins, 3-1, at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. Ovechkin became the first player from the 2004 NHL Draft to reach the 1,000 game mark.
